Wanted: Front-end Developer

We are seeking an experienced developer who shares our passion for creating powerful tools that are simple to use.

As the lead Front-end Developer for design and construction of user interfaces, you will be at the forefront of redefining what is possible in biology and disease research.

You will join a team of problem solvers who enjoy creative challenges, thrive in a collaborative environment, think independently, communicate effectively, adjust easily to changing timelines, and are not afraid to fail forward.

Cornerstone Genomics, Inc is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Core objective:

With your technical skills and aesthetic sensibilities, you will power an engaging user experience that will directly improve the speed, accuracy, and clarity of genomic research for our clients.

What you will bring:

You are a seasoned Front-end developer who is self-motivated, organized, and intellectually engaged.

Your extensive skills are coupled with a professional courage and integrity, earned through years of experience delivering quality software.

You are a natural communicator who enjoys sharing their domain knowledge with our group, and an expert listener who can provide guidance to both our team and our clients.

Applicants will have achieved an established multi-year record of technical prowess in front end development, and delivered software applications in a leadership capacity.

A successful candidate will possess many of the following qualifications, yet we recognize that professionals leverage previous experiences to acquire new skills (we do that ourselves!).

Thus, if the exact skill listed below isn’t in your toolbox, consider whether your expertise with a similar concept may apply. Our goal is to find someone inspired to join us in our fast-paced environment, and ready to take the reins on their first day.

We build custom tools. With your experience, we’ll deliver innovative products built from scratch.

To do this, you:

  • Have extensive experience creating and editing content for web applications using HTML5 and CSS3/Bootstrap.
  • Possess a detailed understanding of at least one Front-end framework such as React, VueJS, Angular or jQuery.
  • Routinely write, modify, and execute applications in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node JS.
  • Have created immersive visualizations of data. Experience with d3 is preferred, but alternatives are great also (ex. Shiny packages in R, seaborn or matplotlib in Python).
  • Are comfortable working with back-end APIs and cloud-based technologies.
  • Have experience writing reusable web components from scratch.
  • Can create and execute unit tests.
  • Use version control tools like Git.
  • Have familiarity with project management tools.
  • Can handle wrangling big data sets – prior experience of any sort is good; exposure to biological data is great; experience with genomic data is highly desirable.
